Staff of the Centre revised our Mission Statement and developed Guiding Principles.
The Centre conducted a needs assessment: Responding To The Needs Of Women Who Have Experienced Sexual Assault In Their Adult Lives. Produced two new resources: Navigating the Child Protection System (funded by the Department of Health) and A Women’s Guide to the Medical System After Sexual Assault.
Avalon Sexual Assault Centre in conjunction with several other women’s organizations from across the province conduct a press conference to address the RCMP’s handling of an alleged sexual assault committed by two officers.
Avalon responds to the media portrayal of a violent sexual assault committed against a young woman on Tower Road. (William Shrubsall is later charged and convicted of this and several other violent assaults against women.)
Avalon Centre moves to another location on Spring Garden Road.
