Conducted a research study, “Metro Response to Sexual Assault: Policies, Protocols and Procedures of the Halifax Regional Police and the Public Prosecution Service”, aimed at improving the response to sexual assault by identifying areas in which policy and protocol for the Halifax Regional police and the Public Prosecution Service can be developed or changed. Funded by Status of Women Canada.

Hosted a provincial conference for First Responders: Sexual Assault Response and Awareness Training for Service Providers.

Due to limited funding and resources, Avalon Centre is forced to limit its volunteer program to the After Hours Response Line and the Board. The agency determines that they cannot maintain the volunteer recruitment, training and supervision needed for some of the volunteer run programs.
